Our eggs are all 100% British and sourced from farms that are RSPCA assured. They also carry the famous British Lion Quality Mark, which is only found on eggs produced to the highest standards of food safety.
High animal welfare standards
We’ve always looked out for the health of our hens and in 2008 we began to stock only free-range whole eggs and since 2010 all egg ingredient has also been free range.
As part of the RSPCA Assured scheme all hens that lay our free range eggs at Co-op are regularly inspected to ensure they maintain the required levels of welfare. Our hens have access to the range throughout the day and this leaves the birds free to roam and rest in the shade to their hearts content. Our farmers will regularly check the hens are happy, as well as carrying out temperature, water and feed checks throughout the day. Our hens have plenty of nest boxes available to lay healthy and delicious free range eggs, as well as space to perch should they want to take a rest. This leaves you free to enjoy your scrambled, poached, fried or boiled eggs in the knowledge that they have come from healthy, happy birds.
